ธเม ธเม นาติธเม อติธนฺตํ หิ ปาปกํ ธมนฺเตน สตํ ลทฺธํ อติธนฺเตน นาสิตนฺติ ฯ เภริวาทชาตกํ นวมํ ฯ ---------
ท่านจะตีก็พึงตีเถิด แต่อย่าตีให้เกินประมาณ เพราะการตีเกินประมาณ เป็นการชั่วช้าของเรา ทรัพย์ที่เราได้มาตั้งร้อยเพราะตีกลอง ได้ฉิบหาย ไป เพราะท่านตีกลองเกินประมาณ. จบ เภริวาทชาดกที่ ๙.
เมื่อจะตีกลองก็ตีเถิด แต่อย่าตีให้เกินไป เพราะการตีเกินไปเป็นความเสียหาย ทรัพย์ตั้งร้อยที่เราได้มาเพราะการตีกลอง ได้สูญเสียไปเพราะเจ้าตีเกินไปเภริวาทกชาดกที่ ๙ จบ
