๕. สณมานสูตร ว่าด้วยเสียงป่าครวญ
ฐิเต มชฺฌนฺติเก กาเล สนฺนิสินฺเนสุ ปกฺขิสุ ปลาเตว มหารญฺญํ ตํ ภยํ ปฏิภาติ มนฺติ ฯ
(เทวดากล่าวว่า) เมื่อนกทั้งหลายพักร้อน ในเวลาตะวันเที่ยง ป่าใหญ่ ประหนึ่งว่าครวญคราง ความครวญครางของป่านั้นเป็นภัย ปรากฏแก่ข้าพเจ้า ฯ
เทวดากล่าวว่า เมื่อฝูงนกพากันพักร้อนอยู่ในเวลาเที่ยงวัน ป่าใหญ่ส่งเสียงประหนึ่งว่าครวญครางอยู่ เสียงครวญครางแห่งป่าใหญ่นั้น ปรากฏเป็นสิ่งที่น่ากลัวแก่ข้าพเจ้า พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสว่า เมื่อฝูงนกพากันพักร้อนอยู่ในเวลาเที่ยงวัน ป่าใหญ่ส่งเสียงประหนึ่งว่าครวญครางอยู่ เสียงครวญครางแห่งป่าใหญ่นั้น ปรากฏเป็นสิ่งที่น่ายินดีแก่เรา สณมานสูตรที่ ๕ จบ @เชิงอรรถ : @ ดูเทียบคาถาข้อ ๒๓๒ หน้า ๓๓๓ ในเล่มนี้
