เอกมูลํ ทฺวิอาวฏฺฏํ ติมลํ ปญฺจปตฺถรํ สมุทฺทํ ทฺวาทสาวฏฺฏํ ปาตาลํ อตรี อิสีติ ฯ
เทวดากราบทูลว่า บาดาล มีรากอันเดียว มีความวนสอง มีมลทินสาม มี เครื่องลาดห้าเป็นทะเล หมุนไปได้สิบสองด้าน ฤาษีข้ามพ้น แล้ว ฯ
เทวดากล่าวว่า บาดาลมีรากอันเดียว มีวนเวียน ๒ อย่าง มีมลทิน ๓ ประการ มีเครื่องลาด ๕ ประการ เป็นทะเลหมุนไปได้ทั้ง ๑๒ ด้าน ฤาษีข้ามพ้นได้แล้ว เอกมูลสูตรที่ ๔ จบ @เชิงอรรถ : @ รากอันเดียว หมายถึงอวิชชา (สํ.ส.อ. ๑/๔๔/๘๒) @ วนเวียน ๒ อย่าง หมายถึงสัสสตทิฏฐิและอุจเฉททิฏฐิ (สํ.ส.อ. ๑/๔๔/๘๒, สํ.ฏีกา ๑/๔๔/๑๒๔)@ มลทิน ๓ ประการ หมายถึงราคะ โทสะ โมหะ (สํ.ส.อ. ๑/๔๔/๘๒) @ เครื่องลาด ๕ ประการ หมายถึงกามคุณทั้ง ๕ คือ รูป เสียง กลิ่น รส โผฏฐัพพะ (สํ.ส.อ. ๑/๔๔/๘๒)@ หมุนไปได้ทั้ง ๑๒ ด้าน หมายถึงหมุนไปในอายตนะ ๑๒ (สํ.ส.อ. ๑/๔๔/๘๒)
