๙. ทุติยสูตร ว่าด้วยเพื่อน
กึสุ ทุติยํ ปุริสสฺส โหติ กึสุ เจนํ ปสาสติ กิสฺส จาภิรโต มจฺโจ สพฺพทุกฺขา ปมุจฺจตีติ ฯ
เทวดาทูลถามว่า อะไรหนอเป็นเพื่อนของคน อะไรหนอย่อมปกครองคนนั้น และสัตว์ยินดีในอะไรจึงพ้นจากทุกข์ทั้งปวงได้ ฯ
เทวดาทูลถามว่า อะไรเล่าเป็นเพื่อนของบุรุษ อะไรเล่าย่อมปกครองบุรุษนั้น และสัตว์ยินดีในอะไร จึงพ้นจากทุกข์ทั้งปวงได้ พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสตอบว่า ศรัทธาเป็นเพื่อนของบุรุษ ปัญญาย่อมปกครองบุรุษนั้น สัตว์ยินดีในนิพพาน จึงพ้นจากทุกข์ทั้งปวงได้ ทุติยสูตรที่ ๙ จบ
