อถ โข หตฺถาโรโห คามณี เยน ภควา เตนุปสงฺกมิ อุปสงฺกมิตฺวา ฯเปฯ อชฺชตคฺเค ปาณุเปตํ สรณงฺคตนฺติ ฯ จตุตฺถํ ฯ
ครั้งนั้นแล นายทหารช้างได้เข้าไปเฝ้าพระผู้มีพระภาคถึงที่ประทับ ฯลฯ จนตลอดชีวิต ตั้งแต่วันนี้เป็นต้นไป ฯ จบสูตรที่ ๔
ครั้งนั้น ผู้ใหญ่บ้านชื่อหัตถาโรหะเข้าไปเฝ้าพระผู้มีพระภาคถึงที่ประทับ ฯลฯ ขอพระผู้มีพระภาคจงทรงจำข้าพระองค์ว่าเป็นอุบาสกผู้ถึงสรณะตั้งแต่วันนี้เป็นต้นไปจนตลอดชีวิต” หัตถาโรหสูตรที่ ๔ จบ
