๑๐๘ รุณฺณมิทํ ภิกฺขเว อริยสฺส วินเย ยทิทํ คีตํ อุมฺมตฺตกมิทํ ภิกฺขเว อริยสฺส วินเย ยทิทํ นจฺจํ โกมาริกมิทํ ภิกฺขเว อริยสฺส วินเย ยทิทํ อติเวลํ ทนฺตวิทํสกหสิตํ ตสฺมา ติห ภิกฺขเว เสตุฆาโต คีเต เสตุฆาโต นจฺเจ อลํ โว ธมฺมปโมทิตานํ สตํ สิตํ สิตมตฺตายาติ ฯ
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย การขับร้อง คือ การร้องไห้ในวินัย ของพระอริยเจ้า การฟ้อนรำ คือ ความเป็นบ้าในวินัยของพระอริยเจ้า การหัวเราะจนเห็นฟันพร่ำเพรื่อ คือ ความเป็นเด็กในวินัยของพระอริยเจ้า เพราะเหตุนั้นแหละ จงละเสียโดยเด็ดขาดในการขับร้องฟ้อนรำ เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเบิกบานในธรรม ก็ควรแต่ยิ้มแย้ม ฯ
ภิกษุทั้งหลาย การขับร้องคือการร้องไห้ในอริยวินัย การฟ้อนรำคือความเป็นบ้าในอริยวินัย การหัวเราะจนเห็นฟันมากเกินไปคือความเป็นเด็กในอริยวินัย เพราะเหตุนั้นแล เธอทั้งหลายจงละโดยเด็ดขาดในการขับร้องและการฟ้อนรำเมื่อเธอทั้งหลายมีความเบิกบานในธรรม เพียงแค่ยิ้มแย้มก็เพียงพอแล้วรุณณสูตรที่ ๕ จบ
