๒. มหาวัจฉเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระมหาวัจฉเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระมหาวัจฉเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า
|๑๔๙.๑๒| ๒ ปญฺญาพลี สีลวตูปปนฺโน สมาหิโต ฌานรโต สตีมา ยทตฺถิยํ โภชนํ ภุญฺชมาโน กงฺเขถ กาลํ อิธ วีตราโคติ ฯ มหาวจฺโฉ เถโร ฯ
ภิกษุมีกำลังปัญญา สมบูรณ์ด้วยศีลและวัตร มีจิตตั้งมั่น ยินดีในฌาน มีสติ บริโภคโภชนะตามมีตามได้ มีราคะไปปราศแล้ว พึงหวังได้ ซึ่ง กาลปรินิพพานในศาสนานี้.
