๖. อภัยเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระอภัยเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระอภัยเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า
|๑๖๓.๒๖| ๖ สุตฺวา สุภาสิตํ วาจํ พุทฺธสฺสาทิจฺจพนฺธุโน ปจฺจพฺยาธึ หิ นิปุณํ วาลคฺคํ อุสุนา ยถาติ ฯ อภโย เถโร ฯ
เราได้ฟังพระวาจาอันเป็นสุภาษิตของพระพุทธเจ้า ผู้เป็นเผ่าพันธุ์แห่ง พระอาทิตย์ จึงได้รู้แจ้งแทงตลอดซึ่งธรรมอันละเอียด เหมือน บุคคลยิงปลายขนทรายด้วยลูกศร ฉะนั้น.
