๔. โปสิยเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระโปสิยเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระโปสิยเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า
|๑๗๑.๓๔| ๔ อนาสนฺนวรา เอตา นิจฺจเมว วิชานตา คามา อรญฺญมาคมฺม ตโต เคหํ อุปาวิสึ ตโต อุฏฺฐาย ปกฺกามึ อนามนฺเตตฺวา โปสิโยติ ฯ โปสิโย เถโร ฯ
หญิงเหล่านี้ดีแต่เมื่อยังไม่เข้าไปใกล้ เมื่อเข้าไปใกล้ นำความ ฉิบหายมาให้เป็นนิตย์ทีเดียว เราเดินออกจากป่ามาสู่บ้าน เข้าไปสู่ เรือนแห่งญาติแล้ว ไม่ได้อำลาใครๆ ออกจากเรือนนั้นหนีมาแล้ว.
หญิงเหล่านี้ไม่เข้าใกล้เป็นการดี แต่พอเข้าใกล้ ก็จักก่อความพินาศให้เนืองนิตย์ เราออกจากป่ามาสู่บ้าน จากนั้นก็เข้าไปยังเรือน เราชื่อโปสิยะ ไม่บอกลาใคร ลุกจากเตียงหลีกหนีไป
