๓. สีหเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระศาสดาที่ตรัสสอนพระสีหเถระ ทราบว่า พระศาสดาทรงมีพุทธดำรัสสอนท่านพระสีหเถระอย่างนี้ว่า

ดูกรสีหะ ท่านจงอย่าประมาท อย่าเกียจคร้านทั้งกลางคืนและกลางวัน จงอบรมกุศลธรรมให้เกิดขึ้น จงละฉันทราคะในอัตภาพเสียโดยเร็วพลัน เถิด.
สีหะ เธออย่าประมาทอยู่เลย อย่าเกียจคร้านทั้งกลางวันและกลางคืน จงบำเพ็ญกุศลธรรม ละฉันทราคะในอัตภาพเสียให้ได้โดยพลันเถิด
