๖. สุเหมันตเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระสุเหมันตเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระสุเหมันตเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า

คนโง่เขลา มักเห็นเนื้อความอันมีความหมายตั้งร้อย ทรงไว้ซึ่งลักษณะ ตั้งร้อย ว่ามีความหมายและลักษณะเพียงอย่างเดียวเท่านั้น ส่วนคนฉลาด ย่อมเห็นได้ตั้งร้อยอย่าง.
