๔. อธิมุตตเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระอธิมุตตเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระอธิมุตตเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า
|๒๕๑.๑๑๔| ๔ กายทุฏฺฐุลฺลครุโน หิยฺยมานมฺหิ ชีวิเต สรีรสุขคิทฺธสฺส กุโต สมณสาธุตาติ ฯ อธิมุตฺโต เถโร ฯ
เมื่อชีวิตจะสิ้นไป ความเป็นสมณะที่ดีจักมีแก่ภิกษุผู้เกียจคร้าน ผู้ติดอยู่ ในความสุขในร่างกายแต่ที่ไหน.
ภิกษุผู้ขวนขวายในการบำรุงร่างกาย ยังติดสุขอยู่ทางร่างกาย เมื่อสิ้นชีวิตโดยพลัน จะมีความเป็นสมณะที่ดีได้ที่ไหน
