๙. วัชชีปุตตเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระวัชชีบุตรเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระวัชชีบุตรเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า
|๒๕๖.๑๑๙| ๙ รุกฺขมูลคหนํ ปสกฺขิย นิพฺพานํ หทยสฺมึ โอปิย ฌาย โคตม มา จ ปมาโท กินฺเต พิฬิพิฬิกา กริสฺสตีติ ฯ วชฺชิปุตฺโต เถโร ฯ
ดูกรอานนท์ผู้โคตมโคตร ท่านจงเข้าไปสู่ชัฏแห่งโคนไม้ จงหน่วงนิพพาน ไว้ในหทัยแล้วจงเพ่งฌาน และอย่าประมาท การใส่ใจถึงประชุมชน จักทำ ประโยชน์อะไรให้แก่ท่านได้.
ท่านพระอานนท์โคตมโคตร ท่านจงเข้าไปยังสุมทุมพุ่มไม้ กำหนดนิพพานไว้ในใจ เพ่งฌานไปเถิด และอย่าประมาท เสียงวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ของคนจะช่วยอะไรท่านได้
