๙. อุสภเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระอุสภเถระ (พระอุสภเถระเมื่อจะพยากรณ์พระอรหัต จึงได้กล่าว ๒ คาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า)
|๒๙๖.๑๙๗| ๙ อมฺพปลฺลวสงฺกาสํ อํเส กตฺวาน จีวรํ นิสินฺโน หตฺถิคีวายํ คามํ ปิณฺฑาย ปาวิสึ ฯ |๒๙๖.๑๙๘| หตฺถิกฺขนฺธโต โอรุยฺห สํเวคํ อลภึ ตทา โสหํ ทิตฺโต ตทา สนฺโต ปตฺโต เม อาสวกฺขโยติ ฯ อุสโภ เถโร ฯ
เราฝันว่าได้ห่มจีวรสีอ่อนเฉวียงบ่า นั่งบนคอช้าง เข้าไปบิณฑบาตยัง หมู่บ้าน พอเข้าไปก็ถูกมหาชนพากันมารุมมุงดูอยู่ จึงลงจากคอช้าง กลับลืมตาตื่นขึ้นแล้ว ครั้งนั้น ได้ความสลดใจว่า ความฝันนี้เราไม่มี สติสัมปชัญญะนอนหลับฝันเห็นแล้ว ครั้งนั้น เราเป็นผู้กระด้างด้วยความ มัวเมาเพราะชาติสกุล ได้ความสังเวชแล้ว ได้บรรลุความสิ้นอาสวะ.
เราฝันว่าได้ห่มจีวรสีใบมะม่วงอ่อนเฉวียงบ่า นั่งบนคอช้าง เข้าไปบิณฑบาตยังหมู่บ้าน
