๒. สีลวรรค หมวดว่าด้วยศีล ๑. ลักขณชาดก (๑๑) ว่าด้วยเนื้อชื่อลักขณะ (พญาเนื้อโพธิสัตว์เห็นลูกทั้ง ๒ กำลังมา จึงกล่าวกับหมู่ญาติว่า)
โหติ สีลวตํ อตฺโถ ปฏิสนฺถารวุตฺตินํ ลกฺขณํ ปสฺส อายนฺตํ ญาติสงฺฆปุรกฺขิตํ อถ ปสฺสสิมํ กาฬํ สุวิหีนํว ญาติภีติ ฯ ลกฺขณชาตกํ ปฐมํ ---------
ความเจริญย่อมมีแก่ชนทั้งหลายผู้มีศีล ประพฤติในปฏิสันถาร ท่านจง ดูลูกเนื้อชื่อลักขณะ ผู้อันหมู่แห่งญาติแวดล้อมกลับมาอยู่ อนึ่ง ท่าน จงดูลูกเนื้อชื่อกาฬะนี้ ผู้เสื่อมจากพวกญาติกลับมาแต่ผู้เดียว. จบ ลักขณชาดกที่ ๑.
ประโยชน์ ย่อมมีแก่ผู้มีศีล ผู้กระทำการต้อนรับเป็นปกติ เธอจงดูลูกเนื้อชื่อลักขณะ ที่หมู่ญาติแวดล้อมกลับมา และจงดูลูกเนื้อชื่อกาฬะนี้ที่เสื่อมจากหมู่ญาติ ลักขณชาดกที่ ๑ จบ ๒. นิโครธมิคชาดก (๑๒) ว่าด้วยพญาเนื้อชื่อนิโครธ (แม่เนื้อเห็นลูกกำลังจะไปยังที่อยู่ของเนื้อสาขะ จึงกล่าวสอนว่า) @เชิงอรรถ : @ ประโยชน์ ในที่นี้หมายถึงความเจริญ (ขุ.ชา.อ. ๑/๑๑/๒๒๐)
