ทิฏฺฐา มยา วเน รุกฺขา อสฺสกณฺณา วิเภทกา น ตานิ เอวํ สกฺกนฺติ ยถา ตฺวํ รุกฺขํ สกฺกสิ ฯ
ต้นหูกวางและสมอพิเภกทั้งหลายในป่า เราเคยเห็นแล้ว ต้นไม้เหล่านั้น ย่อมเดินไปเหมือนกับท่านไม่ได้.
ปุราณกกฺกโร อยํ เภตฺวา ปญฺชรมาคโต กุสโล วาลปาสานํ อปกฺกมติ ภาสตีติ ฯ กกฺกรชาตกํ นวมํ ฯ ---------
ไก่ตัวเก่าที่แหกกรงหนีมานี้ เป็นไก่ฉลาดในบ่วงขนสัตว์ ย่อมหลีกไป และยังขันเย้ยเสียด้วย. จบ กักกรชาดกที่ ๙.
