ภทฺทโก วตายํ ปกฺขี ทิโช กุมุทสนฺนิโภ วูปสนฺเตหิ ปกฺเขหิ มนฺทมนฺโทว ฌายติ ฯ
นกมีปีกตัวนี้ ดีจริง ยืนนิ่งดังดอกโกมุท หุบปีกทั้ง ๒ ไว้ ง่วงเหงา ซบเซาอยู่.
นกตัวนี้ดีจริงหนอ มีปีกเหมือนดอกโกมุท หุบปีกทั้ง ๒ จับเจ่าซบเซาอยู่ (ปลาโพธิสัตว์มองดูนกยางนั้นแล้ว จึงกล่าวว่า)
นาสฺส สีลํ วิชานาถ อนญฺญาย ปสํสถ อเมฺห ทิโช น ปาเลติ เตน ปกฺขี น ผนฺทตีติ ฯ พกชาตกํ ฉฏฺฐํ ฯ ---------
ท่านทั้งหลาย ไม่รู้จักกิริยาของมัน พวกท่านไม่รู้จึงได้พากันสรรเสริญ นกตัวนี้ไม่ได้คุ้มครองรักษาพวกเราดอก เพราะเหตุนั้น นกตัวนี้จึงไม่ เคลื่อนไหวเลย. จบ พกชาดกที่ ๖.
พวกเจ้าไม่รู้ปกติของมัน เพราะไม่รู้จึงพากันสรรเสริญ นกยางตัวนี้ไม่ได้คุ้มครองพวกเราหรอก เพราะเหตุนั้น มันจึงไม่ขยับปีก พกชาดกที่ ๖ จบ
