พาโล วตายํ สุนโข โย วรตฺตํ น ขาทติ พนฺธนา จ ปโมเจยฺย อสิโตว ฆรํ วเช ฯ
สุนัขตัวใด ไม่กัดเชือกหนังให้ขาด สุนัขตัวนั้น โง่เขลามาก สุนัขควร จะเปลื้องตนเสียจากเครื่องผูก กินเชือกหนังเสียให้อิ่ม แล้วจึงค่อย กลับไปยังที่อยู่ของตน.
อฏฺฐิตํ เม มนสฺมึ เม อโถ เม หทเย กตํ กาลญฺจ ปฏิกงฺขามิ ยาว ปสุปตุชฺชโนติ ฯ สุนขชาตกํ ทุติยํ ฯ ---------
คำที่ท่านกล่าวนี้ฝังอยู่ในหัวใจของข้าพเจ้า อนึ่ง ข้าพเจ้ายังได้จำไว้ใน ใจแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าจะรอเวลาจนกว่าคนจะหลับ. จบ สุนขชาดกที่ ๒.
