เอกปุตฺตโก ภวิสฺสสิ ตฺวญฺจ โน เหสฺสสิ อิสฺสโร กุเล โอโรห ทุมสฺมา สาลก เอหิ ทานิ ฆรกํ วเชมเส ฯ
ดูกรพ่อสาลกวานร พ่อเป็นลูกคนเดียวของเรา อนึ่ง พ่อจักได้เป็นใหญ่ แห่งโภคสมบัติในตระกูลของเรา ลงมาจากต้นไม้เถิด มาเถิดพ่อ เรา จะพากันกลับไปบ้านของเรา.
นนุ มํ สุหทโยติ มญฺญสิ ยญฺจ มํ หนสิ เวฬุยฏฺฐิยา ปกฺกมฺพวเน รมามเส คจฺฉ ตฺวํ ฆรกํ ยถาสุขนฺติ ฯ สาลกชาตกํ นวมํ ฯ
ท่านสำคัญเราว่า เป็นสัตว์ใจดี จึงได้ตีเราด้วยเรียวไม้ไผ่ เราพอใจอยู่ใน ป่ามะม่วงที่มีผลสุก ท่านจงกลับไปบ้านตามสบายเถิด. จบ สาลกชาดกที่ ๙.
