เสยฺโย อมิตฺโต มติยา อุเปโต น เตฺวว มิตฺโต มติวิปฺปหีโน มกสํ วธิสฺสนฺติ หิ เอลมูโค ปุตฺโต ปิตุ อพฺภิทา อุตฺตมงฺคนฺติ ฯ มกสชาตกํ จตุตฺถํ ฯ ---------
ศัตรูผู้ประกอบด้วยปัญญายังดีกว่า มิตรผู้ไม่มีปัญญาจะดีอะไร เหมือน บุตรของช่างไม้ผู้โง่เขลา คิดว่าจะตียุง ได้ตีศีรษะของบิดาแตกสองเสี่ยง ฉะนั้น. จบ มกสชาดกที่ ๔.
มีศัตรูผู้มีความรู้ยังประเสริฐกว่า ส่วนมิตรผู้ไร้ปัญญาไม่ประเสริฐเลย เพราะว่าลูกชายผู้โง่เขลาคิดว่า เราจักฆ่ายุง ได้ทุบหัวของพ่อเสียแล้ว มกสชาดกที่ ๔ จบ
