รัฐต้องพิทักษ์รักษาไว้ซึ่งสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ เอกราช อธิปไตย และ บูรณภาพแห่งเขตอำนาจรัฐ และต้องจัดให้มีกำลังทหาร อาวุธยุทโธปกรณ์ และเทคโนโลยีที่ทันสมัย จำเป็น และเพียงพอ เพื่อพิทักษ์รักษาเอกราช อธิปไตย ความมั่นคงของรัฐ สถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ เล่ม ๑๒๔ ตอนที่ ๔๗ ก ผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติ และการปกครองระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์ทรงเป็นประมุข และเพื่อการพัฒนาประเทศ
