ที่ดินที่จะเวนคืนตามพระราชกฤษฎีกานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อใช้ในการขยาย คลองราชมนตรีและก่อสร้างเขื่อนรักษาแนวเขตคลอง ช่วงจุดตัดบริเวณคลองหนองใหญ่ - จุดตัดบริเวณ คลองภาษีเจริญ และเพื่อนำที่ดินไปชดเชยให้เกิดความเป็นธรรมแก่เจ้าของที่ดินที่ถูกเวนคืน
