ผู้ตรวจสอบมาตรฐานสินค้ามีสองประเภท ดังต่อไปนี้
(๑) ผู้ตรวจสอบมาตรฐานสินค้าประเภท ก ซึ่งทำหน้าที่ตรวจสอบมาตรฐานสินค้าทางวิชาการ ที่ต้องอาศัยหลักวิชา เครื่องมือและอุปกรณ์ทางวิทยาศาสตร์
(๒) ผู้ตรวจสอบมาตรฐานสินค้าประเภท ข ซึ่งทำหน้าที่ตรวจสอบมาตรฐานสินค้าได้ แต่ละประเภทหรือชนิดของสินค้าที่ได้รับอนุญาต
