ในพระราชบัญญัตินี “คุมขัง” หมายความว่า การควบคุมนักโทษเด็ดขาดภายหลังพ้นโทษหรือผู้ถูกเฝ้าระวังไว้ ในเขตก้าหนดเพื่อป้องกันการกระท้าความผิดซ้า “ศาล” หมายความว่า ศาลยุติธรรมที่มีอ้านาจพิจารณาพิพากษาคดีอาญา “คณะกรรมการ” หมายความว่า คณะกรรมการป้องกันการกระท้าความผิดซ้า “อธิบดี” หมายความว่า อธิบดีกรมคุมประพฤติ “รัฐมนตรี” หมายความว่า รัฐมนตรีผู้รักษาการตามพระราชบัญญัตินี
