การรับรองวิทยฐานะสถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชนที่ทำการสอนเพื่อให้ปริญญาชั้นใด และในสาขาวิชาใด ให้เป็นไปตามมาตรฐานสถาบันอุดมศึกษาที่กระทรวงศึกษาธิการกำหนด การรับรองวิทยฐานะสถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชนตามวรรคหนึ่ง ให้มีระยะเวลาห้าปีนับแต่วันที่ ได้รับการรับรอง
