เจ้าพนักงานเรือนจำอาจสั่งให้นักโทษเด็ดขาดออกไปทำงานสาธารณะ หรือทำงานอื่นใดเพื่อประโยชน์ของทางราชการตามมาตรา ๔๘ นอกเรือนจำได้ โดยให้เป็นไปตาม ระเบียบกรมราชทัณฑ์ ให้คณะกรรมการแต่งตั้งคณะอนุกรรมการเพื่อพิจารณาคัดเลือกนักโทษเด็ดขาดที่จะสั่งให้ออกไป ทำงานสาธารณะหรือทำงานอื่นใดเพื่อประโยชน์ของทางราชการตามมาตรา ๔๘ นอกเรือนจำ
