โอปัมมสังยุต กูฏาคารสูตรที่ ๑ มีวินิจฉัยดังต่อไปนี้.
ชื่อว่า กูฏงฺคมา เพราะไปรวมที่ยอด. ชื่อว่า กูฏสโมสรณา เพราะรวมกันที่ยอด.
บทว่า กูฏสมุคฺฆาตา ความว่า เมื่อรื้อยอดเรือน.
บทว่า อวิชฺชาสมุคฺฆาตา ความว่า เพราะถอนอวิชชาได้ด้วยอรหัตมรรค.
บทว่า อปฺปปตฺตา ได้แก่ เป็นผู้ตั้งอยู่ในความไม่อยู่ปราศจากสติ.
