กึสุ อุปฺปโถ อกฺขาติ กึสุ รตฺตินฺทิวกฺขโย กึ มลํ พฺรหฺมจริยสฺส กึ สินานมโนทกนฺติ ฯ
เทวดาทูลถามว่า อะไรหนอบัณฑิตกล่าวว่าเป็นทางผิด อะไรหนอสิ้นไปตามคืน และวัน อะไรหนอเป็นมลทินของพรหมจรรย์ อะไรหนอ มิใช่น้ำแต่เป็นเครื่องชำระล้าง ฯ
เทวดาทูลถามว่า อะไรเล่าบัณฑิตกล่าวว่า เป็นทางผิด อะไรเล่าสิ้นไปตามคืนและวัน อะไรเล่าเป็นมลทินของพรหมจรรย์ อะไรเล่ามิใช่น้ำ แต่เป็นเครื่องชำระล้าง พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสตอบว่า ราคะบัณฑิตกล่าวว่า เป็นทางผิด วัยสิ้นไปตามคืนและวัน หญิงเป็นมลทินของพรหมจรรย์ หมู่สัตว์นี้ข้องอยู่ในหญิงนั่น ตบะและพรหมจรรย์นั้นมิใช่น้ำ แต่เป็นเครื่องชำระล้างอุปปถสูตรที่ ๘ จบ
ราโค อุปฺปโถ อกฺขาติ วโย รตฺตินฺทิวกฺขโย อิตฺถี มลํ พฺรหฺมจริยสฺส เอตฺถายํ สชฺชเต ปชา ตโป จ พฺรหฺมจริยญฺจ ตํ สินานมโนทกนฺติ ฯ
