๗. ภัลลิยเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระภัลลิยเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระภัลลิยเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า
|๑๔๔.๗| ๗ โย ปานุทิ มจฺจุราชสฺส เสนํ นฬเสตุํว สุทุพฺพลํ มโหโฆ วิชิตาวิ อเปตเภรโว หิ ทนฺโต โส ปรินิพฺพุโต ฐิตตฺโตติ ฯ อิตฺถํ สุทํ อายสฺมา ภลฺลิโย เถโร ฯ
ได้ยินว่า ท่านพระภัลลิยเถระได้ภาษิตคาถานี้ไว้อย่างนี้ว่า ผู้ใดกำจัด เสนาแห่งมัจจุราช เหมือนห้วงน้ำใหญ่ กำจัดสะพานไม้อ้ออันแสนจะ ทรุดโทรม ฉะนั้น ก็ผู้นั้นจัดว่าเป็นผู้ชนะมาร ปราศจากความหวาดกลัว มีตนอันฝึกฝนแล้วมีจิตตั้งมั่น ดับกิเลสและความเร่าร้อนได้แล้ว.
