๓. วัลลิยเถรคาถา ภาษิตของพระวัลลิยเถระ ทราบว่า ท่านพระวัลลิยเถระได้กล่าวคาถาไว้ดังนี้ว่า
|๑๙๐.๕๓| ๓ วสฺสติ เทโว ยถา สุคีตํ ฉนฺนา เม กุฏิกา สุขา นิวาตา ตสฺสํ วิหรามิ อปฺปมตฺโต อถ เจ ปตฺถยสิ ปวสฺส เทวาติ ฯ วลฺลิโย เถโร ฯ
ฝนตกลงมา มีเสียงไพเราะดังเสียงเพลงขับ กุฎีของเรามุงดีแล้ว มีประตู หน้าต่างมิดชิดดี เราเป็นผู้ไม่ประมาทอยู่ในกุฎีนั้น ถ้าท่านปรารถนาจะตก ก็เชิญตกลงมาเถิดฝน.
ฝนตกลงมา เสียงดังกระหึ่มคล้ายเสียงเพลงอันไพเราะ กุฎีของเราสบาย มุงบังมิดชิดดี ในกุฎีนั้น เราอยู่อย่างผู้ไม่ประมาท ถ้าต้องการจะตกก็จงตกลงมาเถิดฝน
