ยโถทเก อาวิเล อปฺปสนฺเน น ปสฺสติ สิปฺปิกสมฺพุกญฺจ สกฺขรํ วาลุกํ มจฺฉคุมฺพํ เอวํ อาวิลมฺหิ จิตฺเต น โส ปสฺสติ อตฺตทตฺถํ ปรตฺถํ ฯ
เมื่อน้ำขุ่นมัว ไม่ใส บุคคลย่อมไม่แลเห็นหอยกาบ หอยโข่ง กรวด ทราย และฝูงปลา ฉันใด เมื่อจิตขุ่นมัว บุคคลก็ย่อมไม่เห็นประโยชน์ ตน และประโยชน์ผู้อื่น ฉันนั้น.
เมื่อน้ำขุ่น ไม่ใส บุคคลย่อมไม่เห็นหอยโข่ง หอยกาบ ก้อนกรวด เม็ดทราย และฝูงปลา ฉันใด เมื่อจิตขุ่นมัว บุคคลก็ย่อมไม่เห็นประโยชน์ตน และประโยชน์ผู้อื่น ฉันนั้น

เมื่อน้ำไม่ขุ่นมัว ใสบริสุทธิ์ บุคคลย่อมแลเห็นหอยกาบ หอยโข่ง กรวด ทราย และฝูงปลา ฉันใด เมื่อจิตไม่ขุ่นมัว บุคคลก็ย่อมเห็น ประโยชน์ตน และประโยชน์ผู้อื่น ฉันนั้น. จบ อนภิรติชาดกที่ ๕.
