น มายมคฺคิ ตปติ น สูโล สาธุ ตจฺฉิโต ยญฺจ มํ มญฺญเต มจฺฉี อญฺญํ โส รติยา คโต ฯ
ไฟนี้ก็ไม่เผาเราให้เร่าร้อน แม้หลาวที่นายพรานแหเสี้ยมเป็นอย่างดีแล้ว ก็ไม่ยังความทุกข์ให้เกิดขึ้นแก่เรา แต่การที่นางปลาเข้าใจว่า เราไปหา นางปลาตัวอื่นด้วยความยินดี อันนี้แหละจะเผาเราให้เร่าร้อน.
โส มํ ทหติ ราคคฺคิ จิตฺตญฺจูปตเปติ มํ ชาลิโน มุญฺจถยิรา มํ น กาเม หญฺญเต กฺวจีติ ฯ มจฺฉชาตกํ ฉฏฺฐํ ฯ ---------
ไฟคือราคะนั้นแล ย่อมเผาเราให้เร่าร้อน อนึ่ง จิตของเราเองย่อมเผาเรา ให้เร่าร้อน ข้าแต่ท่านพรานแหทั้งหลาย ขอได้ปล่อยเราเถิด สัตว์ผู้ตก ยากอยู่ในกาม ท่านไม่ควรฆ่าโดยแท้. จบ มัจฉชาดกที่ ๖.
