๘. เวทัพพชาดก (๔๘) ว่าด้วยพราหมณ์ชื่อเวทัพพะ (พระโพธิสัตว์คิดถึงเรื่องคนที่ปรารถนาความเจริญโดยวิธีที่ไม่สมควร ได้ประสบ ความพินาศใหญ่หลวง จึงกล่าวว่า)
อนุปาเยน โย อตฺถํ อิจฺฉติ โส วิหญฺญติ เจตา หนึสุ เวทพฺพํ สพฺเพ เต พฺยสนมชฺฌคุนฺติ ฯ เวทพฺพชาตกํ อฏฺฐมํ ฯ ---------
ผู้ใดปรารถนาประโยชน์ โดยอุบายอันไม่แยบคาย ผู้นั้นย่อมเดือดร้อน เหมือนพวกโจรชาวเจติรัฐฆ่าเวทัพพพราหมณ์ แล้วพากันถึงความพินาศ หมดสิ้น ฉะนั้น. จบ เวทัพพชาดกที่ ๘.
ผู้ใดปรารถนาประโยชน์โดยอุบายอันไม่แยบยล ผู้นั้นย่อมเดือดร้อน เหมือนโจรชาวแคว้นเจตะ ฆ่าเวทัพพพราหมณ์แล้วถึงความพินาศทั้งหมดเวทัพพชาดกที่ ๘ จบ
