๘. สาเกตชาดก (๖๘) ว่าด้วยพระพุทธเจ้าครั้งเสวยพระชาติเป็นบุตรพราหมณ์ชาวเมืองสาเกต (พระศาสดาทรงเล่าเรื่องที่พระองค์ทรงเติบโตในมือของพราหมณ์และพราหมณี ๓,๐๐๐ ชาติ ตรัสพระคาถานี้ว่า)
ยสฺมึ มโน นิวีสติ จิตฺตญฺจาปิ ปสีทติ อทิฏฺฐปุพฺพเก โปเส กามํ ตสฺมึปิ วิสฺสเสติ ฯ สาเกตชาตกํ อฏฺฐมํ ฯ ---------
ใจฝังอยู่ในผู้ใด แม้จิตก็เลื่อมใสในผู้ใด เป็นคนที่ไม่เคยเห็นกันเลย ก็วางใจในผู้นั้นได้โดยแท้. จบ สาเกตชาดกที่ ๘.
บุคคลมีจิตเลื่อมใสและมีใจฝังแน่นอยู่ในบุคคลใด บุคคลพึงสนิทสนมคุ้นเคยในบุคคลนั้น แม้ทั้งๆ ที่ไม่เคยพบเห็นกันเลย สาเกตชาดกที่ ๘ จบ
