ผู้ที่จะได้รับการบรรจุเข้ารับราชการเป็นข้าราชการตำรวจ ต้องมีคุณสมบัติและ ไม่มีลักษณะต้องห้าม ดังต่อไปนี้
(๑) มีสัญชาติไทยโดยการเกิด
(๒) มีอายุไม่ต่ำกว่าสิบแปดปี
(๓) เป็นผู้เลื่อมใสในการปกครองระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์ทรงเป็นประมุข
(๔) ไม่เป็นผู้ดำรงตำแหน่งทางการเมืองหรือดำรงตำแหน่งใด ๆ ในพรรคการเมือง
(๕) มีคุณสมบัติและไม่มีลักษณะต้องห้ามอื่นตามที่กำหนดในกฎ ก.ตร.
