สภากาชาดไทยอยู่ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวผู้ ทรงแต่งตั้งสภานายก หรือสภานายิกา และอุปนายกผู้อำนวยการ คำว่า สภากาชาด หรือ สภาในข้อบังคับนี้ หมายถึงสภากาชาดไทย และคำว่า สภานายกหมายถึงสภานายิกาด้วย
