๘. สิงคาลชาดก (๑๔๘) ว่าด้วยสุนัขจิ้งจอกเข้าไปในซากช้าง (สุนัขจิ้งจอกโพธิสัตว์ติดอยู่ในท้องช้างตายเกิดความสังเวช จึงกล่าวว่า)
นาหํ ปุนํ น จ ปุนํ น จาปิ อปุนปฺปุนํ หตฺถิโพนฺทึ ปเวกฺขามิ ตถา หิ ภยตชฺชิโตติ ฯ สิคาลชาตกํ อฏฺฐมํ ฯ ---------
เราจะไม่เข้าไปสู่ท้องช้างบ่อยๆ อีกต่อไปแล้ว เพราะในเวลาที่เข้าไป อยู่ในท้องช้าง เราถูกภัยคุกคามแล้ว. จบ สิคาลชาดกที่ ๘.
ไม่เอาอีกแล้ว ไม่เอาอีกแล้ว เราจะไม่เข้าไปในซากช้างอีก เพราะในเวลาที่เข้าไปอยู่ในซากช้างนี้ เรากลัวแทบตายสิงคาลชาดกที่ ๘ จบ
