ในการลดโทษประหารชีวิต ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการลดมาตราส่วนโทษหรือ ลดโทษที่จะลง ให้ลดดังต่อไปนี้ ๒๕๑๔
(๑) ถ้าจะลดหนึ่งในสามให้ลดเป็นโทษจำคุกตลอดชีวิต
(๒) ถ้าจะลดกึ่งหนึ่ง ให้ลดเป็นโทษจำคุกตลอดชีวิต หรือโทษจำคุก ตั้งแต่ยี่สิบห้าปีถึง ห้าสิบปี
