การแต่งตั้งยศตำรวจชั้นประทวน ให้ผู้บัญชาการตำรวจแห่งชาติหรือ ผู้บังคับบัญชำระดับผู้บังคับการขึ้นไปซึ่งได้รับมอบหมายจากผู้บัญชาการตำรวจแห่งชาติเป็นผู้สั่งแต่งตั้ง ทั้งนี้ ตามหลักเกณฑ์และวิธีการที่กำหนดในกฎ ก.ตร. การแต่งตั้งยศตำรวจชั้นประทวนเป็นกรณีพิเศษ ให้ผู้บัญชาการตำรวจแห่งชาติเป็นผู้สั่งแต่งตั้ง ตามหลักเกณฑ์และวิธีการที่กำหนดในกฎ ก.ตร.
