ในเสลาสูตรที่ ๙ มีวินิจฉัยดังต่อไปนี้ :-
บทว่า เกนิทํ ปกตํ ความว่า ใครสร้างรูปนี้.
ด้วยบทว่า พิมฺพํ ท่านกล่าวหมายเอาอัตภาพ.
ด้วยบทว่า อฆํ ท่านกล่าวเฉพาะอัตภาพ เพราะเป็นที่ตั้งแห่งทุกข์.
บทว่า เหตุภงฺคา ได้แก่ เหตุดับ เพราะปัจจัยบกพร่อง.
