ในเทวทัตตสูตรที่ ๒ มีวินิจฉัยดังต่อไปนี้ :-
บทว่า อจิรปกฺกนฺเต ความว่า เมื่อพระเทวทัตทำลายสงฆ์แล้วจากพระเวฬุวันไปยังคยาสีสะประเทศไม่นานนัก.
บทว่า อสฺสตรึ ได้แก่ ลูกเกิดแต่พ่อลาแม่ม้า.
