นิคมได้ชื่อโดยนุปํสกลิงค์ว่า เทวทหํ.
บทว่า มโนรมา แปลว่า เป็นที่ยังใจให้ยินดี. อธิบายว่า เป็นที่เอิบอาบใจ.
บทว่า อมโนรมา แปลว่า ไม่เป็นที่เอิบอาบใจ.
