ภิกษุ ชื่อว่าอคารวะ เพราะไม่มีความเคารพ. ชื่อว่าอัปปติสสะ เพราะไม่มีที่ยำเกรง คือไม่มีผู้ใหญ่ ไม่ประพฤติอ่อนน้อม.
